A good "match" econ school

Hey guys,

Everyone knows about the big economics programs like UChicago, Cornell AEM, Wharton and other Ivy-like colleges. However, does anyone know of any schools that are on the second or third tier that still have respectable econ programs.

Hypothetical student

GPA: 3.8
SAT: 2150-2250
SAT IIs: Math 750 Chem 740 History 770 <-- all arbitrary numbers

ECs
Normal sports player
FBLA national regional and state awards
NHS
volunteer in a hospital or something
attended a summer program that has to do with econ

So what mildly reputable econ schools would you recommend?

Thanks in advance

Wisconsin has a great econ program.

Northwestern, Hopkins, NYU

^ Northwestern’s Econ is definitely not 2nd-tier. It’s comparable to Yale’s and Yale’s is comparable to Stanford’s and the like. So, it’s safe to group them together.

2nd-tier econ would include Rice’s, Notre Dame’s, WUStL’s and the like.

If the OP wants to attend California schools, there are a lot of excellent schools that offer top-quality econ program, prominent of which are: Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA and the Claremont Colleges.

^Well, he was looking for a “match” school.

Northwestern is less selective than Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc., but its Econ department is just as good

Hopkins really? I dont think I have ever heard of their econ program. Do you know anything about it?
Btw Thanks for all the help

JHU ranked 24th. NU is very good–Top 10.
