I can't work in silence either. It makes me really paranoid and I feel compelled to break the silence.

OP: Usually I'll work in coffee shops, or, if I'm forced to work at home, I'll go into my parent's bedroom. Seriously the most lifeless room in existence; however, this sometimes doesn't work due to my paranoia issues.

I've never heard about the bathroom studying thing. Haha. Maybe I'll try it out.

I looovvveee studying in Barnes and Noble. Since I usually study for AP or SAT/ACT it's great since I can use their books (I just bring my own notebook) for free. And I like the variety. Plus we have Starbucks there too, so I can get coffee.

haha wow i thought i was the only one who studied in the bathroom
i study in my living room or i go to borders
try to find a peaceful place thats comfortable to u
it could be ur yard, backyard, the park, or ne other relatively quiet place thats near ur house

Barnes and Noble all the way. They have ample seating and some even have quiet alcoves marked off specifically for studying.

Starbucks when it's not busy or the weather is good enough to sit outside.

Hmmm, public parks sometimes, but if it's a good day there will be WAY TOO MUCH noise.

Barnes and Noble > Public Library for obvious reasons. You can freeload off their books. :).

That's mostly it around here, if you go to a friend's house it's safe to assume a great deal of studying is NOT going to get done. Distractions are wayyy too prevalent.

I like to study by my local swimming pool when it gets warmer out, and this seems to work well as long as I don't run into many friends who distract me :) When it's colder out I usually study on the couch/at the kitchen table.

I've studied at some interesting places in my life - the tv room with all possible distractions going, the ice cream store, on the patio in the winter,...

The useful places?
In my quiet bedroom, someplace studious (Barnes & Noble, the library, etc.).

If you can find a place that's perfectly quiet but you get paranoid by the quiet, just turn some music on quietly- or if others are in the house, leave the door slightly ajar so that occasional noises drift in and you don't feel like you're in a soundbooth. :)
