A Hard Decision

Hi guys, I know that all of you don't want someone like me, a freshman in high school worrying about college yet, but my issue isn't really about college, it's just about my freshman year. If you guys could help me out, or at least point out an opinion, that would be great!

So my classes this year that I have been taking are currently heading towards the end of 1st semester are
Hon Bio
Hon Eng
Hon Spanish 1
Hon World History
Wind Symphonic Band
Jazz Band
and finally Hon Geometry

I am doing pretty well in all of my classes (mostly A's) besides geometry in which I have like a C- or D+ border. (Its just not my best class)

MY question to all of you is should I drop down to Geometry A so i will have a better grade and higher GPA, or should i just continue to power through my current geometry class, sacrificing my GPA a little. This is just a minor struggle but input from the CC community is greatly appreciated!

Instead of taking the easy way out try working through the class. Get help of you need it. Study more. Use online resources like khanacademy. With a bit more effort you can do well. I did bad in geometry as well and I wish I had put in more effort.

Thanks for the response TinnyT!
My problem is not that im not doing well because of a lack of hardwork, I get extra help pretty much everyday after school. Its just mainly an issue with time. My other classes also are pretty hard and take up a lot of my study and homework time at home. I try my hardest in Geometry, I use khanacademy, and teacher help but i have a busy schedule, balancing school with extra curriculars, the result is my bad geometry grade. (I also have varsity swimming (every night), student council, and im class president aswell.

I’d stick through Geometry Honors. Unless your’e planning on leaving the honors math track after Freshman year, i’d stick to geo h. I personally found Geo easier than other maths, but your’e probably more of an Algebra/Calc sort of guy. So don’t let geometry get you off that honors track!

…bump…

Talk with your teacher about what’s going on, ask her to assign more problems for you to do
Dropping out should be a last resort

GPA should ALWAYS come before extra curricular and community service. no question

If your ECs are hurting your grades you need to be dropping an EC or two. As for the math, your grade is rather low (you should be aiming for all Bs or higher), if you plan to go into a major/career that does not use math and do not intend to take honors math in the future drop down, other wise stick with the class. Either way drop an EC or two.

If time is the issue, prioritize. Geometry is more important than any other EC. Talk to your coach or the head of the club and activities you’re in. Any reasonable person would excuse you from practice or meetings for academic reasons.
