a hopeful future brownie asking for an evaluation

<p>My absolute dream school is brown because during the two times I visited (I'm currently a junior) I was absolutely thrilled with the friendly atmosphere, the gorgeous campus, the professors and i thought i could really belong. Anyway, so I'm thinking of applying ED, so here are my stats:</p>

<p>-Hispanic Minority (My dad is from Argentina, my mom is from Uruguay)
-3.76 unweighted/4.7 weighted
-Top 8% (978 kids in my class)
-National Merit Semi-Finalist (still waiting to see if I'm a finalist)
-AP Scholar with Honors (by end of senior year, will have taken 8 AP's)
-one of the toughest course-loads of my year
-Captain Golf Team (one of top 100 players in state)
-2280 SAT
-SAT II: World History- 800, Spanish Language 750, US History: 780 (considering taking some other ones)
-Vice President of Spanish Club
-Volunteered at hospital 250+ hours
-Regular volunteer job at YMCA 200+hours
-Key Club Board of Directors
-National Youth Leadership Conference in Diplomacy
-United Way Teen Council Board Member
-Took a one week course at Brown about Medical affairs abroad
-Volunteered for one month in Africa building new schools, helped in surgery, etc.
-My friend and I started an unofficial shirt company and we make shirts for individual students or schools clubs, and although we're not technically a "business", I've gotten a ton of cash and recognition.
-National Society of High School Scholars
-National Honors Society
-National English Honors Society
-I was a semi-finalist at two nationally organized essay contests
-I've been giving golf lessons at my local country club for about 6 months</p>

<p>ESSAYS
-I wrote one on my experience when volunteering in Africa
-Another one I wrote about my experience living around the world (i've lived in 6 countries on 3 continents) and how the difficulties affected me but made me a better person
- Last but not least, my main essay will also probably be my hook as I'll explain how I learned english in the 6th grade when i moved here but I overcame the difficulty to get an A in AP English.
- I've had all these read by 3 english teachers and they have all told me they're really good</p>

<p>Anyway, I want to go to Brown and maybe major in international affairs/pre-law and then go onto yale law school hopefully and focus on international law/human rights. My ultimate goal is to someday work at the UN or something! Well, I've been told by many that my GPA and class rank are low for brown but I will tell you that although I may not be the smartest, I'm probably the most enthusiastic for brown. One of my passions is film-making and I'm actually thinking of sending a video detailing my life experience to the admissions office along with my app. Should I do this?</p>

<p>Well, if I don't get in, here are some other options I'm really interested in:</p>

<p>-Tufts
-Georgetown
-Wesleyan
-Vassar
-Williams
-Notre Dame
-Middlebury
-William and Mary
-Duke
-U Virginia</p>

<p>Btw, I'm currently live in Michigan but my family's moving to Dallas this summer and with hopefully around 10,000K of assistance a year, money isn't really a big issue.</p>

<p>Thanks for any help! I really appreciate it!</p>

<p>-Georgetown-match
-Notre Dame-match
-William and Mary- safe match
-Duke - reach
-U Virginia - safe match</p>

<p>-Brown -slight reach</p>

<p>anyone else? bump</p>

<p>I think you have pretty good chances everywhere. Maybe post more about academics. </p>

<p>YOU VOLUNTEERED IN AFRICA!!!! Oh my gosh. That's like so cool. What did you do? Did you stay in the cities or get to go to the villages.</p>

<p>what else should i post for academics?</p>

<p>anyway, yeah i absolutely loved africa and it's the reason why i want to be an international lawyer. well i did it through Global Routes exchange program for 4 weeks. the first week we got there and you got to choose your specialty whether you wanted to work in engineering or medicine and i chose medicine (doctor is always out there for a career) in this small town called Ghana where i helped out in some surgeries at this (really poor) hospital in a village of about a 1000 people, 2 hours away from the nearest big city. let's see some other stuff, whe met the surgeon general of ghana, built volunteer shelters, taught english and for the first week we stayed a little town of Daijobi or something like that (which has like 50,000 people) and for the rest we stayed at different little villages. it was one of the greatest events of my life! i had a lot of fun and hey, now i got a career out of it, because some of the places we stayed in were really sad and run down and your typical africa view was often there. a little girl of about 8 that i gave a vaccine to at a hospital got AIDS when she was raped in Sudan (she was a darfur refugee) and i really realized how bad the situation is. anyway, it's truly eye-opening.</p>

<p>here's the website if anyone's interested: <a href="http://www.globalroutes.org/student-exchange-programs.html%5B/url%5D"&gt;http://www.globalroutes.org/student-exchange-programs.html&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p>

<p>oh about my gpa, the one i posted is up to date with my junior year that i'm finishing next week and our grades are already set. </p>

<p>i'm taking 5 AP's next year and if i do well, my counselor said i could defenitly end up in the top 5% or higher if I get all A's my first semester. but, i'm applying ED, so should i send in my first quarter results along with my app?</p>
