A Junior's Schedule Problem

Hello everyone! I'm new here for CC, but I hope that we all get along. Anyways, as a junior, I have a problem, a difficult one that is.

For the schedule I have, there is:
AP Chemistry
AP US History
AP English Language & Composition
French 3
Honors Trig/ Math Analysis
Painting

My parents believe that with the 3 AP classes I take, along with church classes (Mondays) and Mass, they say it is too much, and that I have to drop one of the AP classes. I tell them that I can handle all of the classes, given the amount of time, and effort I put into it.

A few notes, though: For my freshman and sophomore year, I usually get A's on all of my classes, but for the AP World History Exam I took, I got a 3 on it. So I'm unsure on how I'll do for these 3 AP classes.
I didn't take any regular/honors chemistry for it, but I believe that somehow, I can do really well on AP Chemistry.
For English, although I really don't like it, I get A's on it, so I believe that if I put hard work for it, I can pull off a 5 for it.

For all of this, my parents believe I'm over-ambitious, saying that I'm not looking at all of this in reality. So I want to know what you guys think I should do. What is really best for me?

Thanks to anyone who answers!

Honestly your workload isn’t excessive. As long as you feel like you are willing and able to do well in your classes, you should take as many ap classes as possible.

What’s the point of taking painting? Can you just drop it and leave early?

That doesn’t look too hard if you’re good at math. AP Chem is seriously hard for the non-logical minded, such as myself. I passed with a 3, but was clueless for the entire year. AP Bio is better if you’re the type of person who just reads and remembers facts.

Lang/Comp has a pretty easy test, in my opinion. The class mostly seems like busywork with little real preparation for the test. There’s really not a whole lot they can do. The whole test is a harder version of SAT CR + three essays.

APUSH is pretty hard, but doable if you’re dedicated. On the exam, things can get messy real fast if you can’t answers the free-response questions. MC should be fairly easy and straightforward.

I agree with Saugus. Try to drop painting and leave early. That will give you so much more time for homework.

I know people who took AP Chem without chem first and they were fine. I don’t think your schedule will be easy, but I also think it will be totally doable if you work at it.

^
Those who go straight into AP Chem and do well are in the minority. If you have an affinity for logic, it may be doable.

@Saugus Well, painting is supposed to help my art requirements for graduation.

In fact, my AP US History teacher said that half his class got 5’s on the AP Exam. I was stunned to hear that.

@Saugus For AP Chem, when you say logical minded, you mean those that can understand concepts and know the ‘why’ of them?

Hi, This is my junior year schedule: AP Biology AP Lang AP US History AP Economics AP Calc AB/BC (counts for 2) Honors Spanish IV Newspaper I am worried that competitive colleges will see newspaper as a blow off class even though at my school it is like a real working bussiness…Help!

O strongly recommend u to take hon chem before u take ap chem…and switch out of painting into an easy ap class like apes or ap stat
