a kinda odd financial aid question

hey guys, I recently heard a rumor from one of my friend that UCs only give students financial aid up to 4 years. After the fourth year, students are on their own to pay for the like tuition/housing/etc. Right now, i am a 3rd year electrical engineering major at UCLA and I think i may need to take 2-3 extra quarters to graduate, and happens to live on financial aid like welfare.

So ya i'm a bit scared abou this rumor. Can someone clarify if this is true? thx

I believe it is true… if you entered UCLA as a freshman you get 4years of financial aid and if you are transfer student you get 3years of financial aid…

research, mon ami. research.

My brother’s a transfer student in his 4th year … still getting financial aid.

As as far as FAFSA goes, they do not look at years alone. They look at the total number of units… As far as your degree, are you exceeding the credit limit at UCLA? or are you graduating late because you have been taking less classes you should be?

i switched from math/econ to electrical engineering around winter of sophomore year, so ya, i think it’s pretty reasonable to go another year isn’t it? and yes I will be exceeding the unit cap for my major, but the counselors told me it wouldn’t be a problem if i file a petition.
