hi all~!
im a korean immigrant living in the states, (it's been two years now)
no US greencard/citizenship at all (yay lol)
& im in a desperate need of financial aid to educate myself in college.

Stats:

GPA: 4.8 weighted, not so sure about the rank but it's def. top 10
SATs: I's: coming out on June 21st, probably will be 2250+, 2350 at most?
II's: Math 2- 780, Bio E-700 (def. gonna retake)
gonna take Physics and Chemistry in the fall, and if time allows,
gonna take Chinese with listening as well lol
AP's : Calc ab/bc, Stats, Bio, Physics, Euro History, English literature (dunno the scores yet)

EC's: A LOT of solid honors/awards stuff (i mean, a LOT)
and solid afterschool activities, community service, blah blah blah

Specialties/Hooks?: im multilingual, and hv suffered a lot from sickly diseases all my life, but im fine now lol my sibling's ill as well, and she needs a surgery.

1) how are my chances of getting into NUS medicine?? (acceptance rates?)
2) what kinds of questions do they ask you in the interviews?
3) how hard are the exams?? do all internationals hv to go to SG for it?
4) do you think they have certain quotas as to where the international applicants would graduate high school?
5) how many internationals are studying in NUS medical school?
6) do they accept the AP credits as college credits?

thx, i would really appreciate your help :)

OK I am an international living in Singapore and applied to NUS this year as well (and was accepted, not medicine though as I don't do Biology)

Your SAT I is definitely high for NUS. Normally, Singapore students get either 790/800 for the Maths part but only manage to get 700 for verbal and fall flat for writing.

Your SAT II is going to kill you. I am by no means an exceptional student but still got straight 800 800 800 for Math II, Physics and Chemistry. Grade B or C in GCE A-levels can get a 800 for SAT II as SAT IIs are known to be extremely easy. As NUS is modelled after the British system, they place a lot of emphasis on your content subjects. getting only 700 for Biology essentially means that you don't know biology at all. Try to get all 5 for the AP subjects. Calc BC is still very easy by A-level maths standard, so make sure you get a 5 in that.

Your ECs would help to cover your bad content subjects (by NUS standard).

(i) I don't quite have the acceptance rate, and it certainly does not speak all as NUS is the only school in Singapore offering medicine and most students without AAAA at A-levels and B3 in General Paper won't even bother applying. Any As in GCE A-levels means a 5 in AP and 800 in SAT II easily.
(ii) I didn't apply to medicine so I don't know as well
(iii) I believe to be higher than average A-levels standard. I believe that A-levels would already be very hard for you. So do watch out!
(iv) No idea at all. Just be very prepared.
(v) No figure
(vi) AP is of such a low standard when compares to A-levels that I don't think you would enjoy any credits at all. In fact, remedial classes may be on the way if you get admitted.

You should seriously leave college confidential and go to The Student Room, a UK based forum. It is much more diverse there and there is even a Singapore subsection where the Singaporeans can certainly advise you.

If you need the hyperlink, just ask me.

5) I read somewhere that this year they were about 3000 applications to study medicne

6)No

it is very difficult to get in, but even more difficult to graduate.

basically, you have to really work your ass off in NUS med. I may sound like i'm exaggerating, but you really won't get what I mean until you are a med student at NUS.

Ya you need to work your ass off. Surely. But then whether he would work his ass off is within his control. He needs to first get into NUS med now and CC is definitely the wrong place to ask for advice. He should just phone NUS med directly, or go TSR (UK version of CC) instead.

thx for your comments. spencer11111, which major did you apply for that got you admitted? also, could you share me your general stats?

I cant seem to find the link for the singaporean forum on the student room..
does anybody have the link?
