I wrote this to my son (last year) the night before SCEA decisions were announced (it was partially based on letters written by other parents to their students). I share it with you today in the hopes you will decide to enjoy this upcoming weekend, and not stress so much.
It is kind of funny since right after I wrote it, I forwarded it to his mom and said we better prepare for a commiseration dinner since at best he’ll get deferred. As it turns out, he got lucky.
I hope it brings you similar luck, and if not, provides some small reassurance…
Best of luck to you all. And please remember that although this seems like a life and death issue, it does not define you, unless you let it. Don’t make that mistake. Instead, promise yourself you will succeed wherever you find yourself.
Lovely letter. I wrote something similar to my son the day before RD Ivy Day in March. He said he read it again right before checking results. BTW, you sound like a great parent!
@psywar This whole time I thought you were a freshman here at Princeton and not the parent of a frosh! I’ve been trying to guess who you might have been and if I know you haha
@normanxi lol, I design video games for a living, a fun job that keeps you young. I could never do what you guys are going after, college admissions are so much more competitive now.
