Princeton University Class of 2022 SCEA Applicants Thread

I thought I’d start a thread for this year’s SCEA.

Thank you. Very nervous. Has anyone received “Likely letters yet”

I just want to comment that the supplement essay topics are TERRIBLE. Can’t imagine they will be fun to read and they certainly are no fun to write.

JUST SUBMITTED!! What are you all applying for?
/your stats?

does Princeton send likely letters?

Also, what are your stats guys

how long after submitting the common app did you guys receive your Princeton Applicant Portal account info?

around 46 hours for me

1490 sat (780 math, 710 English)
dk GPA but i got 43/45 ib points (HL Math, Physics, History Econ, SL English, Spanish)
Wanna do engineering (hence the unbalanced SAT score lol)

how about you guys?

@prodesse

Which essay prompts that were TERRIBLE?

I am also applying early. Nervous because I sent my ACT score from Saturday and I don’t even know what I made on it. It should definitely go up from last year.

My ACT probably won’t be stellar, but I am low income and first generation so that might even it out. My essays are spectacular too! I’m excited to see where all of us end up.

@TiggerDad - The “Your Voice” ones involving quotations are the prompts I was referring to. Here’s one of them: ‘Culture is what presents us with the kinds of valuable things that can fill a life. And insofar as we can recognize the value in those things and make them part of our lives, our lives are meaningful.’

@prodesse I think that prompt was the one my son tackled two years ago. I liked his answer, but I may be biased. Good luck!

My S responded to that same prompt last year, and he actually liked writing the essay.

Has anyone gotten an email notifying about interviews yet? Idk when pton does those for REA?

When do they release data about the number of applicants?

what are you all going to major in?

Hey guys. Prospective molecular bio major here. Good luck to everyone!
4.60 weighted/4.15 unweighted (on a 4.3 scale). 1570 SAT, 800 and 790 on subject tests. EC involvement heavily centered around music, herpetology, and robotics with some other things on the side. Also a multiracial URM (black, white, hispanic).

Hi there! I must say I’m not a SCEA applicant, but an RD applicant. However, I have also submitted my RD application not too long ago  So excited! @mlunghi , I hope to major in Mathematics, but would also take as many CS and Physics courses as possible, while also taking the general ed courses of course. @prodesse I actually liked them, but I was fortunate enough to have experienced some very cool things and have known someone special to write my essay about, but I can imagine some people do not like the prompts at all.

Good luck to everyone <3

Put undecided on the degree question. Thinking of majoring in Mech Eng, Computer Sci or Physics.

New SAT - 1570
SAT II Physics - 800
SAT II Math 2 - 800

My school doesn’t calculate GPA but its approximately 4.75 on a 5 point scale.

I have ok essays & good extracurricular involvement. I think these will be the reasons for my rejection (after all, 85% of us are going to be rejected).

As for my recommendations - I hope they are good.

Good luck everyone!!

Hello everyone! Electrical Engineering/Physics Major here. How’s everyone doing #gotigers
