but i can't afford it!!!!!!!!!!
my hope now hangs on Yale.......</p>
<p>I've heard of tons of kids getting into ivies and not MIT, or MIT and not the ivies...so don't lose hope!</p>

<p>Same here, waitlisted from MIT, in at NYU and Rutgers, likely letters at Brandeis and UVA. No idea what chances are like for a 700/section-SAT score student, #1 in class and amazing ECs are like at ivies considering random MIT waitlisting!</p>
<p>College acceptances are totally random - AND they are all independent of one another (if you aren't familiar with statistics, this means that one acceptance has no influence whatsoever of the other). MIT and Yale both want totally different kinds of student bodies. Don't give up hope!! </p>
