basically in title.

um, looks like MIT rejected everyone. so yeah.

Of course.

Yeah, my cousin got rejected from MIT and got accepted at every Ivy he applied to, so yes.

@mollie: Hey mollie, I didn’t get admitted, but it’s okay, life goes on. . .

yeah… MIT is a lot more selective than some ivies like cornell

But it’s not just the selectivity – students who are rejected at MIT get into similarly selective schools like Harvard and Princeton, and vice versa. Top schools are looking for many of the same qualities in applicants, but they’re not looking for exactly the same people, so not everybody gets accepted to and rejected from the same schools.

same here. but i doupt if i am going to be accepted to any ivy bc i did not get into mit and i wrote the best essays for mit.

yeah yeah yeah!

this sounds positive… I honestly think I put more effort into my other apps and not necessarily MIT… I couldn’t put my common app essay into the MIT app and I was proud of that essay

also – are we thinking not applying ea to mit reduced chances? it seems that way from the “MIT massacre” that people are calling it now!

and that is a good point about MIT and comparably selective ivies looking for possibly different applicants

EA round is more selective than RD round every year

Yup, definitely still a chance. I mean, MIT is probably as or more selective than most of the ivies.
Good luck!

It’s totally okay —don’t worry about it. I got rejected today, too, and I’d gotten a likely letter from Columbia earlier this week, so you’re in good shape. :)

Last year my S’s friend did not get into MIT, his dream …and he is absolutely loving life at Princeton.

haha denied admission from MIT, don’t really mind. This school is incredibly hard to get in. Being an international applicant, didn’t wasn’t a surprise for me. Guys we have a long road ahead of us.

We love to tell the story of my father who way back in 1946 with the war over wanted to go to MIT. MIT was full, so he took the trolley down to Harvard Square, took the Harvard admissions test, and was accepted on the spot!

Son did not get into MIT and he is now very happy in his IVY league school-a much better fit for him.

You have absolutely no chance now. First, IVY league schools are way harder to get into than MIT. Second, MIT shares their admissions decisions with all the Ivy League schools. Although chances are that the IVY League schools already made up their mind on you, they will reject you because they don’t want to clean up MIT’s trash. So, even though you are a genius at math and science, more than hold your own in your other classes, have won countless awards in countless extracurricular activities, and are a brilliant writer, you will get rejected by all the Ivy’s you applied to. I mean, c’mon! They call MIT’s admissions decisions the “MIT Mercy Moment” for a reason. I sincerely hope you got into somewhere early, or else you may end up having to go to community college. :(

WOW, that last post was rude and false. MIT decisions will in no way effect other admissions to Ivy League universities. Each school looks for a slightly different type of person. Don’t let pessimism as seen above get you down. Practically everyone I have seen on this site has been over qualified. At that point it almost seems to be random who is picked from there. Yes, an Ivy is still a very likely possibility.

Good luck! :D

I guess someone’s sarcasm detector is not working properly

senior 0991 was also a ■■■■■

I totally think MIT is THE hardest school to get in, as proved by few people around me, but my close girl friend got in through early action. But don’t be discouraged if you get rejected. There are other good schools out there!!
