A little confused about the cal system...

So I'm from Minnesota, and a little confused about the University of California application. I am considering applying to Berkeley and Los Angeles, so I will check both on the application. I am ranking Berkeley as my first choice. Does it work that I can get accepted to both? Or is it just if I don't get into Berkeley then UCLA considers me? Any help would be great, thanks!

Also, what is the admit rate for out of state students, because as I understand it berkeley is only about 5% out of state people.

When you check the boxes on the UC application, each school you check will receive your application. They will be evaluated be each school independently. You can be accepted by both, rejected by both, or get in to one or the other.

Sorry, don't know the admit rate for out of state students but Berkeley is very highly selective for in state students.

just check the boxes. you don't rank them. ya it's something like that %

thansk for the help - by 5% I mean that of all the students at berkeley, only 5% are out of state. as far as how many apply from out of state and are accepted though, that is what i was wondering. i guess it is hard to say.

How do the UC's receive your SAT/SATII scores?

You have to have them sent to each UC separately.
