a little help with career advice?

i'm going to be a freshmen in college this year, with almost no idea of what to major in. fortunately, i'll be in the arts and sciences department which gives me a lot of opportunities to explore what i want. i have been leaning towards economics a bit more than anything else, but i am still very unsure. if i had to narrow my interests right now, i would probably pick economics, architecture, and engineering. i'd like to know what many of you have done when you entered college with little to no idea of what you were going to do. from what i've seen during some research, more students going into an MBA program don't have any business related majors at all, which is convincing me a little to choose another field to start off in. any advice would be appreciated. thanks!

Just choose what interests you the most. I guess that may be tough to know at this time. You certainly don't need to major in business or economics if you wish to get an MBA in the future.

i think it depends on what school you attend.

if your main focus is to work in the business field when you graduate and you're not coming from a top school, i would major in economics or anything that is the most closely related to business.

I think that Vector gave the best advice you could possibly ever receive. Just major in what interests you, and what catches your eye. There's no other way to tell what career you should be going into from there on.

For me, I originally wanted to major in Philosophy, and then go to law school. Then I wanted to major in Accounting, and then go to law school right after. Now, I'm dead set on majoring in finance, working for 3-4 years in business, then moving onto law/business school, whichever I see fit.

Most people do change their mind, and most change their minds many times, so don't be afraid to major in one thing and change your mind a couple months later. You're young, as am I, so you really don't know what you want.

If you want some advice, I'd say go ahead and major in Economics. You'll probably find that its dead boring, and pretty easy, as you'll just take the basics. But just try it out, and if you have a knack for it, continue taking Econ. Its one of the broadest college majors you can get into, and it really is essential at just about any level.
