A little help...

My son has about a 3.7 unweighted, but a pretty strong ACT (34). His EC's are good and he's active in his church. We're from Northern Cal, if that matters at all! Notre Dame is his first choice. Would it be better for him to apply early or regular? I feel he's not strong enough for early and suggested he wait, but one counselor and friend's parent suggested early and you know how some kids will listen to other people before their parents! I told him to contact his admissions representative but he hasn't heard back yet and he is supposed to get his info to the teachers doing his recs. Please advise!

get the info to the teachers either way when they are overloaded with everyones they will devote less quality time to one. What is his class rank is his essay done? If he waited to apply would there be anything better about his application if not go for it EA

Hey sfmama,

I would wait and see what your rep tells you. If he/she recommends EA, then I think your son should that. However, make sure he doesn't just rush his essay and app just to make the deadline. I'd listen to your rep though.

Good Luck

I had about a 3.4-3.5 unweighted , 4.0 weghted and I got in. Just throwing that out there for some extra encouragement/hope.

My S had a slightly higher gpa, same ACT and we live in N California. He e-mailed his rep last fall and I remember she took awhile to get back to him and was very apologetic. This is a heavy recruiting time for them and they are out of the office a lot. I do remember that for some reason, her reply went to spam...you may want to check.

If he doesn't hear in a week, resend the e-mail. Speaking from experience, she does reply.

My S followed the reps advice and was admitted EA. The essay is so important and the 34 on the ACT is huge!

Good luck.
