could someone give me an outline of what their pittstart session was like for the college of arts and sciences (not honors or anything). what do you do, how big are the groups, how many stupid get to know you games do you have play? anything would be really great

PittStart is informative, and the day that you must meet with your advisor is the only mandatory day for attendance. Students who stayed overnight in the dorms posted positive comments. (Students who frown on the "stupid-get-to-know-you-games" just don't stay in the dorms for PittStart. But, IMO, you're missing out on a chance to mingle and meet new people.) In the info packet that's sent out, there's an agenda outlining what goes on each day - and it might be on the school's website, as well.

In regard to scheduling your classes, I'd suggest you walk in with a good idea of what you're interested in to discuss with your advisor. And it's helpful, too, if you've located the buildings for these classes on a campus map for your own sake.

Good luck!

Pittstart is pretty cut and dry...at least for me it was. We had an informational meeting about classes, followed by an inspirational-type meeting about successful cba alumni (I am in the business school...but they can't be all that different). I wouldn't worry about "getting to know you" type exercises.
