A little tiring I know but please chance.

Okay I am originally a florida resident but due to my dad being in the military we haven't lived there since 2005 and we currently live in California. We have lived in Germany for 5 years and only moved to California at the beginning of the fourth quarter. I plan on applying for Summer Term B

Onto the stats.

GPA: 3.1

SAT:1830
670 Reading
640 Math
520 Writing

and a 700 Reading score from a Previous SAT.

I have 360 volunteer hours and I am getting more this summer.

I will have done Varsity Football for 2 years--Captain
Basketball for 3 years Varsity for 2
Varsity track for 3 years captain for 2 and a CIF State Finalist for 1 year

I have taken a semester of honors English and history but had to move before the year and class was done.

The school I am at now does not have as strong a curriculum as my old school did.
This year I took AP English and the rest was regular classes however I did take the AP Physics test this year.

This coming up year I am planning on taking AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, and AP Biology I would take AP English except that there is a scheduling conflict with AP Chem and the English department is weak so I choose the Chem class seeing as it would better prepare me as far as workload and rigor would go for preparing me for college.

I am worried about my low GPA, I hope that my decent SAT score could help it out there.
Any and all comments would be welcome at this point. Thank you

We seem to have around the same GPA:) Hum, For summer? I think you stand a chance, yes. I’m also applying for summer B, too. If they end up defering you (I’d rather them defer me, then straight out reject!) I would try the ACT. Some people tend to do better on it, it all depends though. If I get defered, it’s the opposite, I’ll try the SAT. But you DO have a nice amount of community service hours, and extra curiculars. Hum, write a good essay, and just apply early, and I think you stand a decent chance. Good luck!:)

If they defer you, it would only be because of your GPA. Test score is set, but that GPA looks kinda discouraging… Maybe they’ll defer for the first semester grades of senior and hopefully you’ll get accepted after that.

Good luck with everything!

I think you’ve got a shot. When you mentioned your GPA, was it weighted, unweighted, or college-specified?

I believe that that is the unweighted GPA I am not sure what my weighted is due to having to move around I may have lost the honors extra weight after I moved from my previous school. Thanks for the feedback as long as I still have a chance I have hope.

Valasuna, see if you can figure out your college GPA (roughly).

Take all of your core classes (Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and etc.) and look at all of the grades you have gotten since 9th grade, in each core class, up to now. Take each grade you see and add them up (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1). Now, once you added them up, it’s time to move on to the next step. Look at which core classes are honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment. For every core class that’s an honors class, add 0.5. For every core class that is an AP or Dual Enrollment class, add 1. When you finish this, you should have a pretty big number. Now it’s time for the final step. Count up all of your core class. Now take the big number you have and divide it by the number of core classes you have. The number you end up getting should be a good idea on what your college-specified GPA looks like (the GPA that matters).

My Specified GPA is roughly 3.3. The GPA could be lower because when I moved to California they did not have the honors history class that I was taking in Germany but that shouldn’t impact it too much. That is however, what I am working with for admissions unless I get deferred.
