I don't live in California, so I really don't know much about UCSD or the other public California colleges...

I got in from out of state to my first choice major (Economics) and my first choice college (Muir)...

So do most people who choose UCSD originally have UCLA or Berkeley as their first choices?? If not, what is it that draws most people to UCSD??

Also, I got into Muir, what is their reputation?? What is it that draws most people to Muir??

Why should I choose UCSD over UCSB (I got in there too) ??

The four UCs I applied to were UCB, UCLA, UCSD, and UCSB... so far I've gotten into UCSB and of course UCSD, but how much harder are Berkeley and LA to get into than SD??

Do a lot of people who get into SD also get into Berkeley or LA??

Sorry, I just have no idea what I'm doing, and to be honest, I didn't think I was going to get into UCSD, so now I'm freaking out haha...

I like UCLA more SOLELY because of their spirit and location. I've lived in San Diego before and I love the weather. If UCLA rejects me, then ill be 100% happy with UCSD!

it is true that most people's first choice in california is either ucb or ucla but that is only because it is so easy to apply to all the UCs. all we have to do is check a few boxes and the UC application will automatically be sent to these schools. so, there are a lot of people who simply check the UCB and UCLA boxes even if they have a small chance of getting in. therefore, most people's top choices are UCLA and UCB but that does not mean they will all get in. people who get rejected from UCLA and UCB usually end up at UCSD. i rarely hear of anyone rejecting UCLA or UCB for UCSD.

UCLA and UCB are significantly harder to get in than UCSD simply because they are nationally recognized and recieve a boatload of highly qualified applicants every year.

My one daughter turned down Berkeley (and others) for UCSD. She only wanted to go to UCSD and fortunately is. She's quite happy with her choice.

My other daughter turned down Berkeley and UCSD (and others) for UCLA. She's also quite happy with her choice.

A lot of people like the area UCSD is in - San Diego area and close to the beach (walking distance) and lots of sunshine.

the main pros about UCSD is the good weather, nice laid-back attitude, and in general everyone is chill..as well as being a recognized institution, but the drawbacks IMO are the lack of social scene and the fact that every quarter goes by really fast.
