None of my classes have a textbook listed on the A&M bookstore yet. I randomly checked some other classes and their books were listed so I know I’m in the right place. What is a worst case scenario for when my books will be listed? I’m going to end up paying a lot more than I would have had to if the books were listed now.

rangerford, Maybe you could try emailing the professor?

ucla011, We purchased the books at Amazon. Are you saying we can buy the web access codes cheaper this way? That’s mainly what we have left to get.

I hear that you should wait until the first week of school to buy textbooks. Professors sometimes do no use all the books. Is this true?

What I have found in my searches is that sellers will enter the ISBN of the “declared” book, then in the comments they will list a disclaimer (sometimes in small letters at the very bottom of their listing), such as “this is the international edition”. International editions have different ISBNs, but sellers lie and list the “declared” ISBN so their listing gets picked up in the various textbook search sites. I just got burned that way on a chemistry book. Regarding the question: Is an international version the same as the hardbound version? I have heard it both ways and don’t know for sure. The only thing I know for sure is that my fathers saying that “Everything boils down to dollars and cents” is very true and, for what they are charging, someone is making alot of $$$$.

I’m looking through course descriptions online, but I can’t seem to find where they say what book you need.

Check the MSC bookstore online. Just fill in your classes and they’ll tell you what books you need. http://tamu.bncollege.com/

Please advise a “reasonably” priced book store on/near campus besides the MSC. It seems the latest trick is to sell “bundles”, containing for example 2 books and an access code card. One book is about $10 (no big deal), Book 2 is $52 (but $36 on line). The rub is that the bundle comes with an access card that does not appear to be availbale from Peason Publishing. MSC wants $88. There has to be a reasonable place to get these stupid bundles without getting robbed.

[Buy and Sell Textbooks in College Station](http://textbooksolutions.com) is pretty good. Near the campus.

I noticed that when I am buying my math book from the MSC it comes with WEBACCESS, but from Amazon it does not. The one from MSC is $80 more, but I fear that if I buy it from Amazon, I won’t have access to the online homework.

Using the ISBN, you can determine who the publisher is. Then google the publisher and find his site. I see that many, but not all, offer web access as an seperate al la carte product that you can buy from them.

Well I couldn’t really find it. I might just spend the extra money to make sure I have what I need. the book is Finite Mathematics for the Managerial, Life, and Social Sciences by Soo Tan, just in case you were wondering.

Yeah it’s the top one. My only concern is that if I buy it from Amazon it won’t come with the Web Access code. Because I think we may be doing homework online.

There must be a way to buy the Access code’s separately…Maybe one of the students can tell us?

I’m not certain that this is the online resource you are looking for. Suppose you can call them at the number on the page and ask if one can buy the access card from them.

About Webassign - I’m a current student, and unless you’re buying a math book new (I wouldn’t recommend it), don’t worry about buying access to the site. The reason I say this is that while most teachers use it, some do not. The same goes for MasteringPhysics (the physics version, basically). Unlike books, if you realize you need it the first day of class, you can go to your computer and buy access instantly. I waited until my 14 day trial period with Webassign was almost up, then bought access the 2nd week of classes or so. So don’t sweat the online access codes. Most of them allow you to purchase access instantly online, if you need them.
