A message of encouragement Post-M10 Madness

Hi everyone! Since most of the decisions have come out and most of us know which schools we got accepted into, I just wanted to share somewhat of a personal reflection of my experience as a student and also tell you all that it will be okay!

I know there have probably been a few disappointments today, and it’s hard not to feel down or overwhelmed sometimes if you didn’t get into your dream school(s), especially with how well everyone else on CC is doing.

Please don’t feel that way, I’ve been experiencing the emotions unconsciously myself for the past 24 hours. I just want to remind everyone that you and your capabilities or intelligence aren’t necessarily defined by the schools you didn’t get into. It’s hard to summarize who you really are in a few essays, stats, and one interview. Thus, it’s natural that some admissions officers won’t necessarily be able to see who you really are through this one-dimensional way you present yourself. But that is okay: because there are schools that will see that, and there are schools that you will find a home at regardless of if they were your initial top choice or not.

Instead, give yourself a pat on the back for the schools you did get into, but know that they don’t necessarily define you either.

You are what you make of your experience at BS, not what BS you end up attending. I believe in all of you!

Good luck until now and September!

love,

Ps. feel free to add your own words of encouragement below! let’s show everyone on this corner of CC that we’re here for each other! =)

Yes! Beautiful words, friend.
If you weren’t outright accepted anywhere, don’t lose hope! You may get off the wl, and there’s always next year, right?
If you didn’t get into your top choice, (cough me cough), you’ll do great at whatever school you end up at! It’s what you make of it, not the prestige or ranking of a school!
and everyone did so well on apps, regardless of acceptances or not!

You all put in the time and effort required to finish apps, which is honestly enough accomplishment in the first place.

The decision may not pan out the way you wished it would.
The financial aid may not pan out the way you wished it would.
You may not be going to the school you wished you were this fall.

But overall, trusting the river will lead you to do nothing but great things. You are a great group and no matter what happens, you will thrive. This next year is going to be incredible for you. Keep your head high!
