Hey all,

I am a freshman at WashU and you have no idea how infuriating it is to here all of the hate on WashU. My one defense of admission that I will post is this: do you really think WashU waitlists people who are overqualified? Oh wait, 0 accepted off the waitlist last year--doesn't seem that smart...Maybe WashU needs to change their standards, if anything making it harder to get in (aka WashU IS awesome).

To the main argument I am making, a lot of people on CC are nervous college kids or parents and posting bad things about a great school causes a great deal of confusion and is really quite rude to those who were accepted and those who are enrolled. Yes, qualified people are rejected and waitlisted but there are so many other great schools out there so you don't need to worry! Maybe you just weren't a "fit?" It isnt just about scores which is why I hate when WashU kids post stats. Like Harvard, believe it or not, WashU has plenty of kids who have 36s and 4.0s but would make the experience at WashU horrible for others.

Please get off our case for being admitted because we all will be happy in the end. PM me please or post here, I would love to chat or anything with anyone and anyone who applies to WashU has a near and dear place with me.

Haterz gon hate, brah. Give those folks some time though, and they’ll realize in the end that WashU is truly an elite institution.

I totally agree that WashU “is truly an elite institution.” I was recently accepted, and although I am still waiting to hear back from other schools, I would be thrilled to end up at WashU.

My one issue with the OP’s argument is the claim that since 0 people were accepted off the wait list, none of them could fall into that ‘overqualified’ category. 0 people were taken because a high number of accepted students chose to enroll. The class was too big; it’s that simple.

I got accepted into WUSTL and it truly made my day to see that there are colleges out there that see beyond the GPA as a judgement for a person’s true intelligence :)

D was waitlisted & she’s happy there’s still hope. Her scores were pretty good/not as good as some who were rejected, though. I’m hoping all these other wl people who are mad choose to go somewhere else, so she’ll get a chance to be there! And if not, why bash the school? She’s proud that she’s still being considered. (Am I too hopeful to get off the waitlist?)

^probably, chances of being accepted off waitlist at WashU are slim to none.

@OP, I agree with you. There’s too many people on CC this year that feel they were ENTITLED to be accepted at WashU because of their stats. Nobody got the memo that there are other elite schools beside HYPMS that also get way more qualified applicants than they can admit. Btw, I wasn’t accepted at WashU, i was waitlisted, so no bias here.

to waitlisted/rejected (not that one will lead to another!) candidates,t take solace in that you are smart and going places! those people on cc, however much annoy me, demonstrate hard work and will pay off eventually. washu is just another institution, special to some, but good for a lot of people. i have confidence you can succeed!
