decent chance.

You have a chance

Great language program at Middlebury if you like foreign languages.

Make certain the graded essay reflects your writing skills. Pay close attention to the supplemental essay - make certain it reflects something unique about you. Last year's essay was about tested values.

Two students from my daughter's small private school were admitted, but did not choose to attend going to Yale and Duke instead. Her school had 73 seniors and does not rank.

If you are looking for financial aid Middlebury is known for offering the least amount.

Although Middlebury's new strategic plan calls for increasing aid in the form of grants starting with next year's class.

Arcadia, do you think that this strategic plan will positively affect Class of 2010 too? At Midd we apply for aid each year, right? Will this mean that our financial aid packages in the years to come will be better due to the new plan?

I am wondering that too.. I hope you can shed some light over this issue, arcadia

From a news release on the new strategic plan:

"Increased financial aid is also identified as a top priority, said Secretary of the College John Emerson, who chaired the planning committee and will oversee the plan’s implementation. “Larger grants to those students who need financial assistance will allow Middlebury graduates to enter the work force with less debt and greater freedom to pursue the careers of their choice, including nonprofit work,” he said. More financial aid also supports another of the plan’s key recommendations maintaining and expanding the diversity, including the socioeconomic and ethnic diversity, of the student body.

The process of implementing the plan has already begun. More financial aid will be available beginning with the class that enrolls in the fall of 2007, and plans are underway to expand the faculty size. The increase will take place gradually, at a rate of three to four faculty members a year, and will be complete by 2015. A recent $20 million donation from an anonymous donor will help support the college’s efforts to proceed with these changes."

So that means that the new strategic plan , in particular the increased aid, wont affect the class of 2010, right?

You must either have some serious issues with self-confidence or, more probably based on your post, extreme competitiveness, which for whatever reason drives you to seek validation for your accomplishments. It really sickens me when I see people who do things because they want to "beat" other people and "win," instead of because it's something they really like to do. You need to stop focusing your life on college. It's really not that big of a deal, no matter what your parents might tell you. You'll be happy wherever you end up.

And OF COURSE you're a good candidate for admission to Middlebury, but it would help your chances if you didn't give the same kind of passive-aggressive impression on your application.

Good luck! IMHO, you don't have any hooks (geography, perhaps?), and other than tutoring, your EC's are all things that kids/parents pay for in the hope that they will look good on a transcript.

So then will middlebury consider my EC's as a positive/negative? Plus whats IMHO? Are my stats okay?
