A "Minor" problem.

Pardon the pun.

Here it is, I'm an accounting major at Winthrop and I need to choose a minor. I'm interested in working with non-profit organizations; so would a minor in social welfare be the best minor for me or would it be better to minor in a language or finance/economics and just volunteer with a selected non-profit?

Bump for a response.

I would choose the latter. When I have looked at social work classes, all I see is how to become part of the government beauracracy.

What about English as a minor? Or just stay with finance/econ?

I’m also majoring in Accounting and interested in nonprofits. I chose to do an Economics minor, and this was a really good choice for me because I got to do an independent study where I studied and researched the nonprofit sector and wrote a 20 page paper on it.

I actually like the idea of an English minor. Reading and writing (and 'rithmetic) are always always good skills to possess. Actually makes you a more interesting person. And I can honestly when I look back, I wish I had taken some more classes like poli sci since I had an interest in it. Not once have I ever said…geez, I wish I took money and banking!
