Today I’m thankful for modern medicine considering I picked up the cold (hopefully just a cold) a gazillion students at our high school had last Thursday/Friday. Medicine makes it far more tolerable. The nice weather we still have helps too.
Today I was thankful to live close enough to work to go home for lunch and nap. Even though I don’t always fall asleep (like today), I love be able to curl into a ball with my eyes shut and just be quiet. I really needed this after listening to all of the people noise in the office.
Today I am grateful that my kids no longer have to have “the gift” (whatever it was each year) that’s really hard to find/procure for Christmas. I believe I have found some nice stuff for them, and I am mostly done after a trip to the mall.
Yay! I got the last Sonicare electric toothbrush at nearby Sam’s club, on coupon for $60 instead of $100. We also got new Roomba for $160 instead of $300. Also got gloves for mom’s aids in size they requested (M) at a decent price ($13.73 for 200) and other stuff. Sure glad we could afford the bill because it added up quickly to a but under $400!
Good news—H likes the biofreeze we bought at Sam’s and says it helps! Got that and Voltaren—aging isn’t for sissies!
Day 7, I am thankful for:
One last “summer” day.
A long walk and talk with a friend I haven’t seen in a while.
Lighted tennis courts, which makes it possible for weeknight playing now that it’s dark at 5pm.
I am thankful that after today I will no longer see election materials in my mailbox, around my neighborhood, etc.
I was so grateful for my run this morning! I got to see the eclipse! When I went out a little after 4:30, the shadow had just started covering it up. Every few minutes I’d glance and more and more would be covered. By the time I got to the gym, it was complete and red. So cool. It was still complete on the run home, but by then it was daylight and not near as neat. But it made my morning!
Thankful to live somewhere where we make choices for our leadership even though some of those choices could be better. Hopeful that the next generation will understand that one person is not able to flip a switch to solve complex problems without support at all levels and that more people will step forward at local and state levels to run for office and to be problem solvers who can reach consensus. Saying this today as I expect that I will need to read it tomorrow.
Grateful and proud that 3/3 of my kids takes their voting rights seriously and all have been sharing helpful tips and info about local and state people/issues to educate and inform along with working in their communities to support candidates and encourage voting. They are way more responsible than I was with politics at their age.
Thankful for rain today (in California). We need it.
Thankful to be able to vote easily and safely.
Thankful that my GD finally fell asleep. It took a short car ride, but at least she’s napping!
I am grateful that my visiting relatives’ flight home yesterday was only delayed and not cancelled so that they were able to leave town.
Thankful for a variety of election results.
I am grateful we can afford everything we need and much of what we want. If we need to go to the Dr, we go. If we want to go to a nice restaurant or on a trip, we go. I know there are many who can’t afford things we take for granted.
Thankful for recent visits with family and friends.
Thankful for new books from library that will be enjoyed while on couch, with a blanket, and two pups.
Searching deep for some gratitute here in Ohio today post election, but can build my glass half full with these this morning:
- grateful for 3 kids who through text are supporting the family with silver linings post election
- negative (which is positive!) medical test results from overdue medical tests
- a little bit of lightness and humor at work this morning, much needed!
Thankful to be able to sleep in to 8 this morning after going to bed at 3am due to the long election night. Working part time as I want isn’t a bad life TBH.
Thankful for morning walks with my dog.
