This is from last August, <a href=“Incoming freshmen exceed expectations // The Observer”>http://ndsmcobserver.com/2013/08/incoming-freshmen-exceed-expectations/
A similar article. Admissions is crazy these days. But once at Notre Dame, not so crazy. I have a Freshman there, she’s very happy. There’s a lot of very smart kids! Also a lot of very nice kids. She likes that the students help each other, and the atmosphere is very collaborative.

Is your daughter thinking of attending?

Yes, our daughter will be attending. She had many great scholarship offers from other schools but said if she got accepted to Notre Dame that it would be stupid not to attend even though she knows she will have to work a lot harder at ND. Our son is a junior, currently studying abroad in Rome. He loves Notre Dame. and the friends he has made there. He was worried because he is not a partier, preferring to socialize in small groups and in quieter settings and he was very pleased to find many others with a similar temperament.

As he is in Arts and Letters and Glynn Family Honors, his work load is heavy with reading and writing. He wonders how all those who party get it all done. But I guess they do!

Congratulations to your daughter, loveneweng! I just visited with my younger daughter who hadn’t been yet. She was also impressed. I hope she is in your daughter’s shoes in a couple more years!
