Whoops sorry Xiggi. I just meant the first part.
I should've separated them into two lines:

" 'ORMs compete with ORMs. URMs compete with URMs.'
Go blame your ORM brethren. I guess that makes me a target then :P"

Alright, fine then. I just wanted to share a nugget of truth. I guess it would've been taken more lightly had I more accurately spaced apart what I paraphrased and what I said. I apologize. I was fatigued and my part was in jest, anyways.

Halcykon and Xiggi what about if you don't have an obvious name and you didn't mark your race? non reporters compete with the non reporters? Or they just throw you in with white because you didn't report? Or they tried to figure out your race by the books, music and activities you listed?

Barron's I'm fine with the URM too but some get so frickin defensive about it. Maybe because they end up at these schools and have a complex that everyone thinks they just got in because of their race? But you can't stop those judgements - just like people say "oh you got in because you're an Olympic skater" or your "father donated tons of money". It's going to happen - but if you're secure with yourself it shouldn't matter what people think.

I mean I didn't care that not being 1st generation, URM (just read the pie charts) would most likely not get me matched - I wanted the finalist status! The only thing I take issue with is the academic disadvantages - I mean you have a URM from a low income neighborhood and not great school verses one from a prep, IB or good public - to me what I've noticed is the second one gets the match to the Ivies. But I mean its the colleges choice not QB and all they care about is looking diverse. Of course this is just my opinion ( :

Halcycon, thank you for the correction. I understood your post perfectly, but other readers might not have seen that the last two lines were in jest.
