the thread that talked about all the things emory excels at.

right, but aside from all this great stuff, emory is cold and unfriendly and chock full of unpleasant and spoilt long islanders.

that's what they say. And it's still in the south, no matter how you look at it. For some people, that's an automatic "no."

Hey, but look at the pros. Emory is...

1)Highly ranked
2)Considered as a top school by recruiters and academics
3)Great for pre-meds
4)Located in a world class city (Atlanta)
5)Relatively nearby the Coca-Cola factory =)

Yet most Emory students choose not to step foot in Atlanta...

Why's that?

how is it cold and unfriendly?
mojojojo, that financial aid package was given to you as a freshman?
im talking about the financial aid package theyd give you as a transfer....

He was accepted as a transfer.

yeah, i was a transfer. I had to wait until june 14th (thats when my cc gets out) to turn in my transcripts. They wouldnt give me a decision cuz i lacked a lot of units...

i think 32 Gs is still good
what does emory rank with financial aid?
is there a ranking of the schools with the best financial aid? where can i find it?
so emory is cold and unfriendly? is it worth the transfer?...

Emory is one of the most generous schools...its endowment per student head figure comfortably sits within top 10 ranks...

I don't know where you are coming from, sexy, but as a someone from the south going to college in the north, emory feels cold and impersonal to me. Both of my parents went to med school there, and living a state over, I've been on campus several times. Its a great school, with great facilities, pre-professional programs etc., but the demographic there strikes me as being uncannily like that of my upstate new york school; rich, preppy and materialistic and overwhelmingly from the mid-atlantic. Its been said before, but emory is a northern school located in the south, and much as i personally feel like i could get in with realtive ease, i am not sure i want to put myslef in such an environment.

hey mojojojo69 , do they look at your test scores if you're a transfer with 2 year's worth of credits ( about 62) ? or do they just base their decision on your college grades and EC's ?

I have a really good GPA and solid EC's/awards, but I have pretty average test scores (though I'm an URM, don't know if that changes anything...)

You do still have to turn in your test scores. Although they dont weight as much, they are still considered. Most of your decision will be based on college gpa. I dont think URM status is considered, although it could certainly help since Emory is a jewish/white northern school in the heart of the south.

whats URM?
where can i find a list of the schools with the best financial aid?
princeton review?

emory has rolling admissions for transfers? since when?

do they offer rolling decisions?

so they say.
