Hi all,

I will be graduating this coming May. CofC has provided me with some of the most fun years of my life. I LOVE Charleston, I want to live the rest of my life here.

However, I do want to mention something to any parents who are considering the school.

Simply put, the education that your kids will get at CofC is mediocre. Not great, not awful. In many ways, I felt like it was a continuation of high school, just with more homework- sometimes. And the truth is, there aren't THAT many different classes available to take (this isn't a big university of prestigious private school), and many of them, especially in my field of Poli Sci, get VERY repetitive. The professors can be quite engaging though.

If you are looking for a great education for the money you will be shelling out, you prob are better off looking at any other state university. CofC comes second to USC in terms of funding, and it is considered a liberal arts school rather than a university.

The bad news also is that I dont see CofC rising in the U.S. news report rankings anytime soon. This is kind of scaring me as someone who is looking for employment in the near future.

All that being said, I don't mean to call CofC a bad school....I'm just trying to say don't expect the best education there. The life-experience is great though. Overall I do recommend going there to someone who doesn't care about getting the GREAT education, so long as you have the money.
