When I pasted my essay into the vanderbilt supplement section, all of the essay shows up in the box. However, after I submitted the application and checked the PDF version of it, a paragraph of the essay was cut off. Do the admissions people see the whole essay or only what is shown on the supplement. If so, should I resend that essay through the mail? Thanks.

Did you ever hit 'save' after doing the copy-paste before submission?

Yea after I clicked 'save', i went to supplement tab and clicked 'submit'

Mine were posted on separate post-application pages included in the PDF because they would not fit in the spaces provided on the application. It may be that the rest of the essay is on one of these.
Otherwise, you can attempt to send it through the mail, but with extra ID (name, HS name, SSN if applicable).

All the essays print on back pages, regardless of length. But there is a limit to the space allowed, and if your essay was longer than the allowed space, then it cut off the rest. (I think the Common Ap says 500 words, but actually allows for 3000 characters or something. I'm not a student, so I haven't studied the requirements.) I assume you didn't do a print-preview - print, and therefore didn't discover it until after you hit submit. What you should do is print out the entire essay, attach a note saying that the essay was cut off on the common application, and mail it to the school. They will insert it into your file to be read with your application.
