part of the why penn essay says, how will you contribute to these academic/social communities for the larger good of the university

I'm kind of baffled...what does this part mean? ...

Of the academic or social communities…

it could be what your major will be focused around, or any of the social clubs at the school.

I thought it was pretty clear

Like what part of penn you will contribute to.

oh! so contribution as in, your participation? i was confused because it says “how will you contribute to these social/academic communities”
I read it as…what clubs will you make? things like that…well, i guess you can say that…

Considering this is the first year with this essay, it can be interpreted in many ways. There’s no right or wrong interpretation really. Just talk about why you want to go to penn and how you would contribute to the penn community
