Best thing about Nav in a car is that it usually shows the speed limit so you don’t have to focus on sign spotting. Our town is notorious for speed traps, I have memorized all the spots where it goes 45-35-25 and also warn all guests headed our way, not even 1mph over the limit and watch the limits. I have received many thank yous from those guests who spotted the PD

LEOs in Brookside not only make up infractions but they also write tickets outside of their jurisdiction. There’s a racial factor, too. Lots of small AL towns used to be sundown towns and some still operate that way.
There’s also Baldwin County, AL, which puts ankle monitors on as many folks as they possibly can (these people have not been convicted of any crime), charging them $10/day which many cannot afford. You can guess who is most harmed by this practice.
My parents risked their lives in Montgomery and Selma decades ago, with threats following them for years afterward. They’d be both furious and heartbroken that this sort of stuff still occurs.
The only good news is that AL.com has posted multiple stories lately. The sheriff of Jefferson Co. commented that the Brookside situation may draw federal attention. One can hope.
