A predicament for an incoming freshman

Hello all, I was accepted to CAS at BU as a Mathematics major. However, the sole reason I applied to CAS was because I was undecided when I applied (I was torn between Business and Engineering). I picked Math because quite simply, I like the subject.

Currently, through months of deciding, I now know I would like to pursue a career in the business field. As most of you know, if I were to pursue a business career, I would attend SMG.

I have two questions.

1- As a newly admitted CAS student who chose Mathematics as a major, I was invited to the STEM program: A 2-week program that helps an incoming CAS freshman deal with the rigors of college. It’s aimed towards Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics though. You also get an $800 stipend for attending the 2 weeks in mid-August.

Should I attend? I’m a little hesitant because I’d like to pursue business, and I’d feel out of place I should say.

2- Is there any way for me to transfer from CAS to SMG. I assume that I would have to participate my first semester at CAS, then re-apply to SMG?

I just wish I could have decided what I wanted to pursue when I applied!

Thanks to all who can help!

You can call the admissions office tomorrow and they should be able to help you out. It IS possible to switch before the school years starts if business is really what you want to do, if there is still room in the freshman class. I've heard of lots of people doing it. If there isn't room, you would just have to take SM 299, a one semester course in business and get at least a B+, then you just transfer to SMG, you don't need to reapply
