Hey guys, I am planning on arriving to Notre Dame on Sunday the 20th, which means Ill miss Orientation. But I have really big reasons especially because I am in another country (summer break), and I had trouble getting airline tickets. Will this be a big deal as far as missing out on anything?

I would call ND and your dorm to make sure, because it may present an issue. It seems like it's too late to really change anything, but they would probably appreciate a call.

Although I wouldn't call Freshmen Orientation a waste of time, I would definitely say that it is not essential as most of the "orientation" is filled with friend making exercises. But I would definitely call your dorm's rector. They require you to sign in the second you arrive. So if they do not see that you have signed in by Friday, they might think something fishy is going on.

The best way to contact your rector is to sign into your inside.nd account and search the directory for his/her phone number. If you do not know your rectors name, look up his/her name on the Residence Hall Profile page.

If you cannot make contact with your rector you should probably call Residence Life and Housing at (574) 631-5878.

Best of luck and which dorm are you at?
