<p>Do Rice students bring their computers to class? My family is looking into laptops and this question came up. Of course, we won't get anything until the acceptance/defferal/denial letter comes.. But my fingers are crossed!</p>
<p>Also, is there wireless internet, and if so, do students bring their laptops outside to do work?</p>

<p>A couple of people bring their laptops to class, but the vast, vast majority of people just use a regular old notebook. I have a laptop and it's really good to have that instead of a desktop, IMO. It's easier to bring home since I'm not from the area, and on occassion I will take it to the library. Most people don't use laptops outside because the sun makes the screens really hard to read. I think you can get special screen covers or something to fix that, though. The wireless internet on campus is not very good. I can get wireless in my dorm room, and that's about it (and I use ethernet in my room anyway). Suppossedly they are making more wireless at some point though.</p>
