Curious about laptops

I was curious as to how many people take their laptops to classes, libraries, etc. Do you guys find it helpful? I checked out a laptop from Evans the other day, but it was so slow. Sometimes I consider taking my laptop to class or the library, but I'm too paranoid/fretful that something bad might happen to it (drop it/get stolen). What do you guys think?

My D use to take her laptop to classes, but some have smaller desktops so she switched to a tablet. She always takes it to the library - can’t quite understand your question about it being stolen - she doesn’t leave it sitting unattended. She said lots of students use tablets now, or at least that was the story we got to go with the request for us to purchase one for her.

How is laptop use in the dorms? Is there WiFi?

Most dorms have wifi, except the old ones with thick walls, I believe they are trying to expand wifi even to these dorms eventually.

A 15 inch screen laptop will fit most desks on campus, mine is 17 inches so it hangs over the edges when I bring it to class :frowning: Wifi is usually good in most places, but lately its been on the fritz (technical difficulties and upgrades I hear) Many many many people bring computers, tablets, etc to class to take notes with or get on facebook with
