Hi, I looked over my financial aid package and it seems that out of 55000ish, I only have to pay about 1000. That 1000 could be avoided because I certainly don't have 2000 of expenses per year.

If I have everything covered, why is there a $400 deposit fee? The website says that it'll go towards tuition, but my tuition is covered. Refund? I looked at the housing and it seems that the costs are different. Are those costs in addition to my room and board or are they already covered? Should I choose a cheaper house? Are there any other fees that I should be aware of? They seem to have a student preview days fee that is about 170...

Penn Financial Aid is INCREDIBLY generous. What will happen is that you’ll get emails throughout the year asking you to pick up refund checks. Penn even ended up refunding me half of what my family contribution was in addition to refunding me for my personal contribution in several instances. Essentially, don’t worry about overpaying because Penn will always pay you back!

Autumnfrost, where are you finding your financial aid package from Penn? My ds was accepted but we have not figured out how to view his financial aid.

If you can’t come up with the tuition deposit, ask for a waiver. They know your financial aid situation. Just tell them you plan to attend and want a spot. Maybe they’d over look the $400 if you call.

does anyone know if penn gives travel waivers for admitted students??
I want to go to the Preview Days…but I cant afford to fly out.

Me too! Can you or do you pay it first then wait for them to refund you because if my tuition is covered and it goes towards tuition, wouldn’t that be extra?
