is everyone happy with their estimated financial aid package?

Are you? [10 characters]

dreaming_melacholy: I think I talked to you on AIM about this. Did you contact the admissions office and ask them about it?

i would like to receive something other than loans... is there anyway you can negotiate?

i am obviously not happy with the amount that i 've received. but i doubt there's much i can do about it...what do u guys think i should say to the financial aid office.

If things don't work out, I'll buy your ED acceptance from you for a nice sum!

maybe write a letter explaining why you can't pay that much? idk

Well the starting point is to determine if it is the loan part of the package? Did you get work study for example? I think that generally I haven't heard tons of complaints from Penn students. Were you thinking that no loans were gonna be required?

Is anyone comfortable with posting their parents total income and how much aid they got?..specifically people around the 100K range?..I had a special situation and I wanna know if they knew about it and if it effected my aid package.

total of 7k in two loans

I don't know your special circumstance but you can call them.....they are pretty decent folks and will want to help you. Are you the only student in the family?

wait... you guys got your aid packages already? i havent even got my mailed acceptance. ive only been accepted online...

You should have been able to see you aid award online as well. Did you log in and look?

my special circumstance actually makes it easier for me to pay for school...but i don't think it effects how much money penn actually gets...i think they still get everything required...so i was wondering if my aid package went down because of it...mainly cause i was have a debate over it with my mom..she thinks they are just stingy and i think they just realize the situation

the online plan thing said that I'm missing some paperwork. I was just wondering if that delay has any consequences.

missing paperwork does not change the award......or delay the award. Get the paperwork in and you will have an award quickly.

thanks, hazmat, you've been a great help to me through this admission process.

You are welcome. I am glad I could help, I am glad you will be a Quaker and mostly I am glad you are gonna be at a place you want to be. See you in August huh? Are you applying for a pre orientation program? There is FA to cover the cost.........be sure to look them up and consider applying.

what's a pre orientation program? When is it? Does the FA cover flight costs?

Your travel from home isn't covered as you will arrive and remain on campus until the regular new student orientation begins. These three programs are all good and give you time to be on campus before all the newbies arrive. You are treated like royalty and get to meet classmates in small groups. I have not heard any bad reports from students who participated: you will benefit and have fun too.
