Kind of an odd question. Did you find the rejection letter a bit... rude? I thought it was kind of strange, but fortunately my son had nothing to compare it to. Then he did get another rejection letter, which was pretty typical and as expected, which made Lehigh's letter stand out even more. Just wondered if they sent the same letter to all rejected students.

(Very different from the email that was sent to international students)

Well, here is what was written. I doubt any people rejected from Lehigh will be monitoring this thread, but I am kind of curious to know if this was a standard letter:
Here are the parts that I thought were a little odd, first stating that the decision is "final" and then basically telling us how they can tell which candidates are worthy of their acceptance versus stating that they had to choose from a large group of highly qualified candidates.

The thorough nature of our review process means that this decision is final.

I imagine that you may be disappointed by this letter. Please realize that nearly 49bazillion students applied for the first year class, which numbers (9 percent of 49bazillion) As a result, we were forced to make very discerning distinctions among talented applicants. Competition for admission has never been keener.

sounds pretty general for a rejection letter. a rude letter would indicate directly that you were not talented or capable enough. take it easy man, it is competitive to get into Lehigh, which is what they are telling you.
