Did your parents encourage the idea of attending boarding school?

At what age did you become in interested in boarding schools?

When did you start posting on this forum?

How did you learn about the different schools (Im especially interested in this answer if you live far away from the schools you want to attend)?

What kinds of electronic forums (aside from this one) are there other for prospective students? She will start in either 2012 or 2013.

My parents didn’t encourage me at the beginning, BUT NOW THEY DO!!=) I learn about BS when I was in 6 grade and yeaa like rad said boarding review is a good site to learn about a skool!

So when I first started this process, I was really set on going to a day school. As I started learning more, though, I decided that I am emotionally ready for BS and that it would be a great opportunity. My parents are still a little hesitant, but they realize this is a dream of mine and that they can’t do much to stop me :)

I became interested in like 3rd grade after I read the book Bloomability and after watching Zoey 101. Hahaha I know that sounds pathetic but that book/show made it seem really cool to me! Then in like 5th grade I decided it might not be for me, but now that I’m older I’m back the way I was in 3rd.

I started posting the summer before I started applying, so back in like August.

At my private school, we have a secondary schools person who helps us pick schools we want to look at. Also, Boarding School Review helped. I inquired to like 10 schools that I was interested in, toured at 7, and applied to 5.

Yeah, I’m not sure about other forums. This one has always helped me, but also I like talking to my real life friends who are also applying :)

no my parents did not support the idea.
i became interested around early 7th grade.
i started posting on this forum like 7th grade using another username, then though.
i learned about the different schools through mostly the internet but my mom knew a couple she wanted my to attend as a day student/

I thought BS was a fantastic idea since Harry Potter before I even started school… When I was 10/11/12 a lot of my friends went to boarding school and loved it… I first discovered US BS on the internet in 7th grade after I moved here, loved it but it was vetoed, change in situation allowed me to convince my parents (who still aren’t keen) to apply in Oct when I started posting here…

My parents supported me the whole way.
I became interested last summer. This site +bsr mainly gave me info, and like csi said, I had some rl friends applying (mostly to day schools). I was scared of boarding school up until early middle school, b/c I didn’t want to be away from family.
Lol every1 has more posts than me ftw :D

CCer has returned. To the OP I was reading your post on the parent thread and realised that your family is in a similar situation to mine. We move a lot. One of the main reasons I want to go to BS is 4 years of school in the same place, which for me is unheard of.
