A question on the not-so amazing earth sciemce and college admissions

Well, I first need to say that I do not slack in school. Last year, my sophmore year, I took 6 IB classes, including IB Math pt.1, IB Spanish 4, IB History of the Americas pt.1, IB English 11, IB TOK pt1, and IB Environmental Systems.

Next year, I am also taking 6 IB classes, but since I took the IB test in E. Systems last year, I don't need another science class and am taking taking IB Latin 4.

Now here is the problem. To get the advanced diploma at our school, you need 4 science classes. I took two freshman year and one last year, but I need one more. I don't want to take another IB science class because all are two year classes, so the IB test credits won't count for the diploma(you have a two year limit, and it would take me three). So, I want to take Hon. Earth Science, but here a the pros and cons

Pros:
-It is an easy A+, boosting up my GPA
-The teacher is the same one I had for E. Systems, meaning she will give me a good rec because she will know me
-I am taking many IB classes next year, and this will be a nice break
-I get my IB diploma and my advanced diploma

Cons:
-I will be in class with "stupid" people, becasue non-IB kids take the class
- Colleges might not like the fact I am taking such an easy class
- The advanced diploma is nice, but not necessary because I have the IB one

So, should I take Hon. Earth Science, or should I take a different class?

I don’t think you should call them stupid, it’s sort of snobby..

What’s the point of an advanced diploma? Do you get some instate scholarship?

Ahhh… the wonders of language. I was unaware that the English definition of “stupid” was “non-IB”.

Just do it. It’s not so bad. Just excel. And get a good rec. And your IB diploma.

In terms of being with “stupid people” –> Just realize as much as you mock the others–they mock you. I’ve taken a decent of classes like that (and APs.) I have to say, for all the mockery of the regular kids in APs, the regular kids make fun of the AP kids just as much.

Sorry about the wording. Almost everyone, I mean everyone, at my school does IB, except a group of stereotypical redneck kids who don’t care but want a diploma. Yes, they are quite stupid, because that is the “I don’t really about where I get in life” class. I think kids who don’t realize the importance of free education with all the necessary tools for success are flat out dumb. Sorry if I sound judgemental, but I am not so tolerant of those kids, because they and their parents are trying to remove the IB system from our school.

You know, not everybody is made to be in IB classes. That doesn’t make them dumb. Plus, you don’t NEED to be in IB to succeed in life. I’m sure they realize the fact that they have a free education, and they are taking advantage of it simply by being there. Do you forget that not everybody on Earth is like some of the grade-grubbing overachievers on CC who take AP and IB classes just for the class title? Sheesh.

Yeah, take the “dumb” earth science class. Maybe you can at least get some education on your peers if you can’t get anything out of the class.

No, you don’t understand who is in this class. But that is not the point. Anyways, thanks for the comments…
