When I'm going to visit colleges, and I schedule a private meeting with an admissions staff person, would it be not impolite to give them a real life "Chance Me" thread? If I give them an idea of my stats, do you think they would be open to tell me if I had a chance of getting into that certain university? More importantly, is this common?

It doesn’t sound like an appropriate thing to do. But maybe someone with more experience would answer differently.

You should be able to gauge your chances simply by comparing your SAT scores and GPA/Classrank to the school’s median. Otherwise, you most likely won’t get a better answer.

You are supposed to use a visit/meeting like that to show interest in the school and ask specific questions that show your interest and who you are.

Sure, many will assess your chances.

@cortana- I can see where I am for stats, but I need someone from the university for my ec’s etc.

Thanks for all of the responses. I just don’t want to impose my whole application on them and appear as if I expect them to say, “Yes! You’re the prefect fit for this school!”
Thanks again!
