so im taking geology 001 this quarter and when i registered for it, i didnt know i already staisfied all the ge’s that the class gives. so as of now im just taking it for a grade. my question is if i change the grading to p/np, can i just not pass because i already have all the ge’s satisfied for the class and p/np doesnt affect gpa right? or do i have to pass to get all the credits?

You don’t get any units for a NP, if that’s what you’re asking. But it won’t affect your GPA.

so if i have 12units this quarter, and i change geo to p/np then i would end this quarter with 8 units? but isnt the minimum amount of units 12 in order to satisfy for financial aid?

You need 39 units by the end of the year and 12 units per quarter to be a full time student. I’m not exactly what the consequences will be for only completing 8 units during one quarter (maybe someone else can clarify), so I’ll just advise you to pass that class… You should be able to manage a C-.
