A rather young person is curious

Hey! I just want to state some basics real fast.

My name is Jay, I live in South Jersey just 15 minutes away from the College, I I did “so-so” on my P-SATs, I’m in grade 10 currentlyhave the toughest classes I can right now, I’m 15 years old, and I’ve been worrying about College applications, Standardized Test scores, finals, what Colleges look at in your Sophomore year of High School, etc.

I got a 100 on my Honors Chemistry Marking Periods, Midterms, but the Finals are devastatingly hard O_O;;

I’m in full Honors, AP classes, the whole sha-bang. I plan on visiting U of P this summer to see if I would die to attend. I’ve been praying since age 11 to get in, yeah, that dedicated. I can’t access College pages on my browser for some odd reason >_<;; So yeah, if anyone here knows about U of P’s Financial Aid, good majors, if Chemistry is a good at this College, if I’ll get in, etc. I know Business is known throughout the world because of U of P, but I really would give anything to go to ANY Ivy League school as a matter of fact.

My dad makes less then $40,000 a year, I live only with my father, he didn’t go to College, we can’t afford it out of our pockets, and hopefully I can get even 2 years to Ivy League Universities.

Um, yeah, that’s about it. If you need additional information to assume something or whatever, go for it. I’ve just been worrying about it while I’m young. Since I’m smart and all, all my teachers assure me I’ll do fine even if I don’t go to an Ivy League College, but you know a child’s determination :D!

Thank you any and all for helping me with understanding the University of Pennsylvania. just

as long as your family's combined salary is under $60,000, your education at Penn (and a few other ivies) is free :)

Yep they make sure the hard part is getting in, not paying ;)

they say that they will meet your full need. However, beware that it is what they decide by need. Having an income less thank 60K doesn't mean that your education is free. it means that you won't be offered loans as financial aid. My families income is under 60K but we are still required to be over 5K. It's not that bad considering I can work the summer and earn most of it but you have to decide if you are willing. Or else you best bet will be to attend your local uni or get a free ride (meritwise) somewhere.

just in general, the ivy leagues have a slightly better reputation than most schools for having good financial aid services, and student services in general. if you have any questions, dont hesitate to call them up. im sure they will give you all the FA info you will ever need :)

Man, should I or shouldn't I make fun of you.

go ahead jon. no one is stopping you.

uh me? i think my statement was accurate...

A rather attractive person is bored.

aka moi.

Whoa buddy slow down a bit. I've been working on getting into Penn since October and I want to die right now. I'm not saying don't think about college but if you start killing yourself now you will be miserable by senior year and looked back to realize you didn't enjoy high school.

But it's good that you know what you want and you're motivated early to get it.

Good luck!
