a REAL risky essay (ahem) for Harvard and Yale

Unlike another essay posted on this forum, this essay is fo'real.

um, to be serious, it is my answer to Yale's tell us about you essay, which conveniently fits easily into Harvard's supplement. So yeah, anyone up for it? Its rather unconventional and the few people I've talked to about it were like... "um, are you sure that's ok?" lol. Just let me know your impression. I hope my rather ditsy post here doesn't color your perception of the "me" that's portrayed in the essay.

pmail me, sounds interesting

yeah same! i’d love to read it.

PM me! I’ll read (:

I haven’t read essays in a few weeks. I’ll give this one a try. PM it to me.

You can PM me the essay, I’ll give it a read and offer you constructive criticism on it. :)

You can always PM me. Are you looking for constructive criticism (grammar and all) or more of a general overview?

I’m an english major; I’m sure there is some constructive criticism i can give. Go ahead and PM me.

PM me. I will offer my comments.

sure, send it over

There is no essay in the Yale supplement that asks the applicant to “tell us about yourself.” There are about 5 short answer questions (e.g., “what do you wish you were better at being or doing?”) and you barely have 175 characers (including spaces) to fill in the answer. Harvard’s supplement, on the other hand, is completely of the sort of “go ahead and make my day . . .” and you can take as much space as you want. There is utterly no comparison between the two formats. Just, fyi.

I will take a look at it if you send it to me.

I can read it over.

And if for some reason, you need another opinion, PM me.

sure, I’ll read it. Send it over
