A Record-Setting Year in Undergraduate Admissions

According to The Tech, "MIT accepted 10.7 percent of early applicants this year, in what may be the most competitive admissions season yet." 540 Accepted Out of 5,019 Applicants in a Record-Setting Year - The Tech

what do u guys think is gonna happen in 10 years?

will they open another school just as good as MIT? cus with those kind of numbers, they're gonna have to cut out lots of students who would really thrive at this school.

Census data and population analysts suggest that the applicant pool will max out next year and actually start to decrease within the next few years. The last few years, this year, and the next 1-2 years represent the main bulk of the baby boomers' children.

Will be interesting to see in 30 odd years when our generation has kids applying to college. My guess is that our generation will have a lot more 1-2 child households instead of 2-4 which is relatively common in the baby boomers

yea, that might be the case. there's probably gonna be a decline in the population growth. hmm, so i guess we had it the worst. the adcoms too. having to read 15,000 apps must really be stressful.

honestly, i would love to be on a adcom, for the first day...lol
