Hey MITChris!

Hello Mr. Peterson,
I was wondering if there is any possibility of you giving us stats on how many people applied, how many people got in, etc. I love numbers, and it would help me to relax if I could calculate a probability of myself getting into my dream school. I realize that you'll probably say no, but it can't hurt to ask!
Thanks!

They’ll be posted on the admissions blogs after decisions have come out.

These are rough numbers and not to be taken as coming from MIT but from different announced numbers and extrapolation from last year.

Total applied - 18084
Total EA - 6102
EA admitted - 680
EA deferred - 3731

Extrapolation

Applicants still being considered - 15700
Admits still possible based on last year’s admit totals - 1035

^^^^make sure that you factor in the 70.6% EA yield for MIT, which could very well change due to the new Princeton and Harvard SCEA plans.

That is not the answer you want, but it’s the answer I’m going to give you ;)

Thanks MITChris! Even though that isn’t exactly what I wanted, it actually makes me much less stressed about the admissions process.
