A reminder for those still waiting to hear

I just want to note for those of you - parents or prospective cadets - who are still waiting to hear that admission can happen as late as May. My own son, who is Class of 2009 didn't hear until mid-May (I'd already sent the deposit to UCLA). And don't think it makes any difference how late you get in - my son's ranked in the top 20 in his class overall, has one of the toughest majors, and was a walk-on for one of the major varsity sports (and he's starting).

So hang in there and keep sending any additional info to your admissions officer, i.e. you've made Eagle Scout, any academic or athletic awards, etc.

And good luck to those of you who've gotten in to USMA and are waiting to hear from USNA. If you get in, enjoy the air conditioning in Bancroft Hall. And remember, John McCain was 6th from the bottom in his class - so I guess you won't have to work too hard there either. :)

BG,

Thanks for the great words of encouragement. And congratulations to LittleGreen (?) for his incredible accomplishments.

"LittleGreen (?)" - with those great credentials I'm thinking "BigGreen Jr." is more like it :)

BigGreen is absolutely right - on R-day all new cadets are on an equal footing.

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

I started watching this board in the spring of 2004, as my cadet developed an interest--the waiting looked tough...

Then we watched it in the spring of 2005, thinking my son was the greatest, the obvious choice. I remember gettting excited to see the Big Green Jr, offer.

My S was then offered in early June (after graduation and ceremonies) a Civil prep spot. This was a good year, and we watched again in 2006 for the actual appointment.

My S is 2010 (w/ prep year).. and also very high in his class and doing well. And on R-day where/how many appointments you have , nor does it matter what you did in High School..

hang in there with waiting , and all the best and enjoy
