A shout-out from ddjones007

Just wanted to pop in on the CC boards and let you all know I'm thinking and praying for all of you who are awaiting ND early action decisions. I remember what a stressful time it was! Now, it's in the distant memory stash of things that were awful at the time, but worth it in the long run...like childbirth. Actually, childbirth was, in ways, easier ;)

I don't post nearly as much as I used to because I've taken on an expanded role at work, part of which includes gearing up for a complete technology overhaul of all computers, audio, phone systems and satellite equipment. Thrown on top of the four-hour radio show, it's keeping me busy enough that I can barely keep up with e-mail, much less the boards.

For you parents who are out there, spending more time on these boards than you'd care to admit (especially to your high school seniors who are the ones who applied and seem to be less obsessed with worry than you are!), know that there are a lot of people out there just like you. You worry most about how you'll be able to help your kids cope with whatever might happen. Just remember that the fact that they are even in the applicant pool for a place like Notre Dame says a lot about the accomplished people they are and what they value. God provides.

For you ND applicants out there, also in high anxiety mode, dealing with uncertainty when many of your classmates already know where they're going to be, the very fact that you've applied to ND shows that you have the courage to take risks and dare to put yourself on the line to pursue a dream. Those are great traits no matter what may happen.

For all you present Domers, Domer parents and alumni, even though I don't frequent the boards much, I very much value the friendships I've made on the board, which helped me get through December of last year and December of 2004. You provide a great service, and are representative of the great loving community Notre Dame is.

My final wish is that the CC boards bat 1000 when it comes to admissions!

I'd love to hear from you by PM, or e-mail at ddjones@usmo.com.

So far, so good!
