A site more reliable than ratemyprofessor?

As helpful as the site is, all I get are snippets of how difficult or how easy the teachers' exams are. If there is no appropriate forum on college confidential for this, is there a known site where I can hear people talk about professors' teaching styles?

For example, I have Phaedra Daipha for Soc 101 but I also have to get to work by taking Route 18, so sometimes I need to leave a little early in lecture to commute. I need to know if her exams are extremely heavy on in-class discussions or if I can still get an A by reading the text as my primary method of studying.

Only thing I can think of that would be better is talk to students who have had the professors before.

For the most part I’ve found ratemyprofessor sufficient as to whether or not the professor was good or easy or whatever, but like you said there isn’t much details.

I get what you mean, it’s just that I’m from out-of-state, I’m new, and I’m also a commuter, so finding people who had her would be a bit difficult…I was hoping there would be other methods before I resort to that, because I didn’t want to be that parasite that asks random strangers for notes and such…

Well you can always ask on this site about a certain prof and see if anybody here had any previous exp with him or her.

I suppose I could try, but I get the feeling I’ll get the same kind of response, like “ask a friend for some notes” or “find people who took her class” and etc, etc…

In what regard is Rate My Professors “helpful”? Chimpanzees doing a dance would give you more reliable information than the b.s. found on that site. The lack of entries should tell you all you need to know about its reliability.

You need to approach the instructor directly.

Well from my experience using it the professors rated highly were good and the ones rated poorly were bad. There are a lack of entries for some professors though which make it unreliable sometimes.
