Hi! So I am in a bit of an odd fix and some help would be greatly appreciated:

My (twin) sister applied early decision this year to W&M and was accepted (yay!). I wanted to keep my options open and am applying to W&M regular decision; however, because I have already submitted applications to other schools, my CommonApp is closed for editing. Due to that, I cannot update my 'siblings' section about current school attendance.

Should I send an e-mail to the admissions office about this? Or is it a non-issue?
Thank you!

I believe there is a way to open a second screen on the Common App which allows you to make changes to what is already locked in place. I can’t remember how this is done but my daughter did this last year after applying to one school EA. She then applied to more schools through Common app and had different headings in a drop down on her home page of the Common app. Sorry I can’t be more specific but I don’t remember the details. Go in through the help section and you might be able to figure it out. Otherwise, not sure how big a deal this is since your sister is not a student at W&M yet.

Congrats to your sister!

Your sister’s school to date hasn’t changed as she’s not yet enrolled at W&M. However, if you wish us to know she was admitted ED you’re welcome to email admission@wm.edu to update your file. Please include your W&M application ID number in the email.

Thank you so much for your responses!

Why would it matter where your sibling was accepted to college? Does this improve your chances? Just wondering.

Many families ask how we treat twins in our applicant pool. Generally speaking if the applicants are very similar in credentials we do our best to make the same decision on both applicants. If the applicants have very different credentials we could very well make different decisions.

At W&M siblings who are attending/have attended W&M do not confer legacy status however we do make note of that family connection.

Since the student in question’s sister hasn’t yet attended W&M it isn’t considered a connection yet.
