A UC application question, please help.

I believe the UCLA counselours have said that they want you to complete as many major classes by the time of applying, is that true? Or is that only for impacted majors?

Oh and, what semesters do they consider your grades? Does Fall 2006 grades get into account when they consider admissions, after you turn in your transcripts etc?(I am applying this fall) NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO ANSWER ME THIS QUESTION FOR THE LONGEST TIME!!

I hope so. Because if they do take my fall 2006 grades into account, they should see about 70% of the complete major classes I need to take.

HELP!!

Well does anyone know what I am asking? Hope I worded it right.

Here's my schedule for the two years, the asterisks indicate my major class. I should be done with my major classes and IGETC by the time I get out in the full two years.

And since most of you are masters and pros of the UC applications, I thought you guys could help me with my questions. :)

they consider fall grades. you will indicate them with your uc update.

THANK YOU. :)

Been waiting to hear that for a freakin' long time(from the other people I have asked)

"I believe the UCLA counselours have said that they want you to complete as many major classes by the time of applying, is that true? Or is that only for impacted majors?"

As a general rule the top universities want you to complete courses in your prospective major to get an accurate measurement of how you'll do in upper-division work. A large majority of admits to non-impacted majors at UCLA and Berkeley have 4.0 GPAs in major course work. For impacted majors you should on top of that have good grades (by good I mean above a 3.4) in non-major course work.

"Oh and, what semesters do they consider your grades? Does Fall 2006 grades get into account when they consider admissions, after you turn in your transcripts etc?(I am applying this fall) NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO ANSWER ME THIS QUESTION FOR THE LONGEST TIME!!"

If you apply for admission Fall 2006, all grades prior to Spring 2007 (Winter 2007 for semester schools) will be taken into account, including the courses that are in progress during the time you fill out your application. You will be asked to submit an update application.

Also since the course numbers are different for every community college it would probably be beneficial if you just put down which part of IGETC the course fullfills or use the title of the course - ex. Intro to stats.

Thank you very much. Both were great help.
My major GPA is a 3.8 and my overall GPA is 3.5(Damn those 5 unit classes that I got B's in!!) Currently a Global Studies Major, which is not impacted, in fact, it's a new major. And I am still working on improving my GPA, overall.

Make sure to subtract any non-transferable courses, that bumped my GPA from a 3.5 to 3.64.

oh okay, thanks. I'll also make sure I check into that too.
Matt30 you already transfered? What school do you go to?

In at Berkeley.

You're Berkeley crazy!

You're crazy.
